Scope of Work

Hedson Rail have provided design, engineering and consultancy services to Network Rail on The Greater West (TGW) programme in the Thames Valley Area and recently providing additional support and best practice on the Welsh part of the project.

Network Rail are electrifying one of Britain’s oldest and busiest railways, providing greener, more reliable journeys and improving connections across southern England and South Wales: The Test Valley Area covers:

 

  • London to Reading
  • Reading to Redhill (non-electrified)
  • Reading to Newbury
  • Reading to Oxford
  • Reading to Didcot
  • Oxford to Banbury

As part of the design service Hedson Rail Quadrante are providing:

  • Topo survey
  • Ground investigation
  • Option design
  • Detailed and temporary works design

    The services and capability of the team span the OLE system and importantly have vast experience from GRIP2 through to GRIP8 to ensure detailed knowledge of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

    The experience of the team is from civil and geotechnical expertise to verify foundation and pile queries, through to detailed OLE system knowledge to effectively resolve issues with switches, ATF, the contact system and bonding to name a few. 

    • Analysis and comment on the designs submitted by the lead designer, schedule and manage interdisciplinary reviews (IDC) and formulate DRN’s to facilitate taking the designs to AFC.
    • Support with engineering input during construction with material allocation, support with SPS installation and location to achieve the best results for dynamic testing, cable gradient reviews, swipe, clearances and heights and stagers.
    • Earthing and bonding compliance review for safe construction and installation
    • Ensuring all aspects of design and construction comply with standards and AiP specification.

        Delivery

        Our engineers played a lead role in developing the entry into service processes and procedures as well as ensuring that all aspects of construction, compliance and assurance pre-energisation were completed.
