Network Rail are electrifying one of Britain’s oldest and busiest railways, providing greener, more reliable journeys and improving connections across southern England and South Wales: London and Bristol, including Cardiff, Newbury and Oxford.
Due to the success of our project engineering and construction service to Network Rail on The Greater West on TVA, Hedson Rail and our expert team of design and site engineers and construction management has now moved west into the Wales part of the project.
Hedson Rail’s “site support” offers businesses, consultants and projects expertise and focus on the interface between construction works and design. Our teams of CREs, Design Engineers and CAD Technicians provide a self-assured service in the review and resolution to both simple and complex challenges that the construction teams face. The dedicated team ensures that the turnaround times for responses are rapid and cause minimal delays to the construction.
The service in Wales now incorporates experienced OLE Project and Field engineering and supervision to support Network Rail and the contractors when challenges are experienced. This ensures the information being fed back to the designers is accurate and complete as well as reporting on construction works progress.
GRIP5 design review with our OLE design team based on site also forms part of our service and demonstrates our capability to provide a fully integrated service from design through to construction.

Hedson Rail are proud to announce that we have joined The 5% Club demonstrating our support to industry resource challenges and the development of our own people. The 5% Club is an industry led initiative focussed on driving momentum into the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students.
The 5% Club, initiated by Leo Quinn CEO of Balfour Beatty in 2013, is a movement of more than 300 employers providing ‘earn and learn’ opportunities to develop the skills and talents people need to become more employable and create meaningful careers. Companies joining The 5% Club commit to raising the number of apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formal programmes to 5% of their total workforce within five years. Members are also asked to publicly report their progress in their Annual Report. Existing members range from SMEs to FTSEs and cover a number of diverse industries, from engineering through to the legal sector.

ATC Crossrail Project

Hedson Rail were engaged by ATC to support the delivery of the Crossrail overhead electrification works at Plumstead, Pudding Mill Lane and Westbourne Park, with construction management, engineering, supervision, OLEC3 and OLEC2 resources.
Following successful delivery of the South East Section project, Hedson Rail is supporting ATC on Crossrail with a full OLE construction team. The team are working collaboratively with our client to ensure safe programme delivery and project success. The delivery teams include:
