Form of contract:
Scope of works:
Hedson Rail was engaged by Balfour Beatty to deliver the small parts steel (SPS) and wiring on the South East Section of Crossrail. The scope of work included installation of SPS, wire, switches, Tensorex, return screen conductor, aerial earth wire, bonding and all associated testing and pre-commissioning.
The South East Section links the central section of the Elizabeth line at the Plumstead portal to the new Abbey Wood station and turn back facilities located at the station. The project also interfaces with new sidings on the north of the Plumstead Portal.
The Hedson Rail delivery team successfully installed and tested the complete OLE system well within the required energisation timescales, while managing a complex interface between the wider Crossrail project and the station work Balfour Beatty is delivering on Network Rail’s behalf.
We are proud to say that there were zero accidents or incidents during the construction of the work with over 30,000 man hours completed between April and October 2017. The installation was of the highest quality with the engineering team delivering the handback documentation within one week of the works completion.
The Hedson Rail team from the start of the project worked closely and collaboratively with Balfour Beatty, Network Rail and ATC to successfully deliver the OLE works on the South East Section and the project further demonstrates our teams capability to deliver rail construction projects.
