Hedson Rail were recently engaged by a major engineering consultancy to complete a feasibility and constructability study for the new build of two loop lines in NSW, Australia which are part of a freight capacity improvement.

Hedson Rails scope of works included a fully integrated constructability report including civil, track, power, electrification and signalling disciplines while considering site and local area constraints. As part of the study Hedson Rail provided an integrated Primavera program and time distance chart to reflect the proposed construction staging and clearly define the interface challenges.

During the development of the this study Hedson Rail utilised BIM which detailed the current layout, the proposed alignment and site specific information such as the rail corridor boundary limits. The BIM was an essential tool to assist in conflict identification and build ability of the project concept.

Hedson Rail is currently in the process of implementing Building Information Modelling across the business in conjunction with partners PZ&W Consulting Engineers to further improve the service we provide to our clients.
