Form of Contract: Target Cost - NR12 with Collaborative agreement incentives

Scope of Works:

  • Replace old signalling equipment, increase capacity and capability;
  • Renewal of life-expired signalling between on VIR lines, transferring the control to the East Kent Signalling Centre (EKSC) – Gillingham
  • The re-control of Strood from Ashford, Sheerness Branch and Medway Valley line to EKSC
  • The creation of a new Station at Rochester
  • 12 car platforms via extensions at Strood
  • New Turn-back facility at Rainham in the form of a new 12 car bay platform
  • New HV, ETE, ETM electrical upgrades

Services Provided:

Providing Project Management and Engineering consultancy to the project, a number of the senior Hedson team have been strategically placed to aid successful delivery.

In the early stages, Hedson provided a Senior Project Manager with previous experience at the front-end stage of an Alliance style contract to ensure GRIP stages 2 & 3 where managed effectively and that all necessary procurement, planning and the correct organisation structure was in place.

Moving into GRIP 4 Hedson has lead the construction staging of the programme ensuring all multi-disciplines have been integrated to align with design packages and delivery of key possessions, driving the DWWP process.

The experience within the Hedson Rail team has added new critical tools to the project through effective management of the short, medium and long term planning cycles and the scope and resource schedule.
