We are engaging with the charities not only to raise much needed funds, but critically to increase awareness of some of the amazing work they do and the challenges they face.
Martin Hedley, director, on how the charities were selected, ‘The chosen organisations are very close to the hearts of the company directors and our families, as we have either needed them in the past or we are going to rely on them heavily in the future. Through some family and sporting events planned for the year, we hope to raise awareness of the importance of these charities and affiliated bodies. Support from our employees, clients, suppliers and friends will be very much appreciated and we will release details of events in the coming months.’
Kidney Research UK and Organ Donation UK
Kidney disease is one the biggest killers in the UK today, in young people and adults. There are approx. 7000 people on the donor list currently, 4000 of those are waiting for kidneys. Oliver Hedley, Martin’s eldest son has chronic kidney disease and at some point in his teenage years will require his first kidney transplant. It is for this reason we are doing everything we can to raise awareness of organ donation and raising funds for Kidney Research UK. The ultimate donation that anyone could make for people suffering with kidney disease is to enrol onto the donor register, which you can do here – Organ Register
Kent Air Ambulance
At the end of 2015 Robert Johnson and his family had a near fatal road traffic accident in Kent. Had it not been for the support and response from the Kent Air Ambulance Service the outcome would have been very different. Managed and maintained through voluntary contributions only, this service across UK often goes unnoticed until it is needed in the most dreadful circumstances, it is for this reason we continue to support the Air Ambulance service across the South of the UK and Wales.
