Hedson Rail is very proud to have been involved with the successful delivery of the Bathampton Temporary Period of Disruption (TPOD) supporting the Principal Contractor (PC). Hedson Rail provided support with project management, lead and site engineering to the PC delivery team through the planning, delivery and close out phases of the project.
The Bathampton TPOD was the largest single possession in the country for some 40 years. Delivered with over 200 engineering trains, the core works commenced on the 18th July and were completed on time on the 31st August 2015. The project scope included over five miles of track lowering through the iconic Box Tunnel, Middle Hill Tunnel and Box Ashley over bridge, to accommodate for future electrification infrastructure.
Not without constraints and complexities, including structural, noise and air quality monitoring, tunnel communications and ventilation, environmental and community management, the project was completed on time and without any safety or operational impacts.
Involvement in this project and the wider programme demonstrates Hedson rail’s ability to support clients and projects with highly skilled technical and management resources in delivering high profile, time critical projects.
