Hedson Rail are providing project management and engineering support to the Reading Station Area redevelopment (RSAR) project - a £600 million multi-disciplinary infrastructure programme which started in 2009.
This is one of the high profile CP4 and CP5 Network Rail programmes, and includes the redevelopment of the Reading railways to facilitate the 18 million commuters that use the service every year. The programme involves grade separations, upgrading life expired signalling and telecoms, complex track remodelling and major civil engineering works including expansion and modification to Reading station. RSAR has three major commissioning components with the stages - L (Christmas 2014), N and RORI (April 2015) being the main focus for the Hedson team.
Part of the RASR scheme is to fully integrate with the CrossRail programme of works and is a part of the Network Rail Key Outputs Strategy. Working with an integrated team, Hedson Rail are providing project management and engineering expertise to drive what is a very complex and aggressive programme.
The outcome will be significantly improved freight and passenger performance for the Great Western Main Line and Cross Country Services, and is due for completion in September 2015.
